Alana is the Chair of The Victorian Women’s Trust, the state’s peak women’s advocacy body. In 2018 Alana was inducted onto the Victorian Honour Roll of Women and appointed to the inaugural Ministerial Council on Women’s Equality in Victoria.

A pioneer of the rural women’s movement in Australia, Alana is a founding member of Australian Women in Agriculture. She is a AgriFutures Rural Women’s Award winner and was named in the inaugural 100 Women of Influence in Australia by Westpac and the Australian Financial Review and the inaugural 100 Women in Australian Agribusiness by Rural Press.

Alana has served on a wide range of boards and state and federal Ministerial advisory bodies. She is the immediate past Chair of the Victorian Catchment Management Council, a former Director of the Rural Industries Research and Development Corporation and a Director of Goulburn Murray Water.

Alana is a founding member and past President of the acclaimed democracy project, Voices for Indi and is a co-author of The Indi Way published in 2023. In 2020 Alana co-founded of the Community Independents Project with former MP Cathy McGowan which has seen the election of eight Community Independent MPs to federal parliament.

Recognized for her rural leadership, Alana has presented at international conferences and universities and been a panel member on ABC Q+A and The Drum. In 2019 Alana received a Distinguished Alumni Award from La Trobe University, is a graduate of the Australian Rural Leadership Program and the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

A member of fifth-generation farming family engaged in cattle production, farm forestry and award-winning habitat restoration, Alana lives on Taungurung country near Benalla in NE Victoria.
